About Miss Toby

Miss Toby is a 1986 graduate of the prestigious Judith McCarty School of Dance - 10 Year Teachers' Course. She has been teaching in the Conway area since that time. In addition to studio work, Miss Toby has taught at satellite sites locations and various colleges. She continues to teach ballroom and country western dance classes.

She has taught horseback riding since 1982. In addition to group instruction, she performs mini-rodeos, hosts birthday parties, runs pony carousels, furnishes petting zoos, conducts horseback camps, and leads trail rides. Miss Toby also rodeos and actively competes in the events of breakaway roping, barrel racing, goat tying, and team roping. She was the High School Rodeo All-Around Cowgirl in 1979. Miss Toby qualified for the National High School Rodeo Finals three years and qualified for the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Finals three years. She was crowned Miss Arkansas Rodeo State Fair Queen in 1986 and Arkansas Cowboy Association (ACA) Rodeo Queen in 1985. She has won several ACA and Arkansas Rodeo Association (ARA) state rodeo championships, having competed in ACA and ARA Rodeo finals since 1977. Additionally, Miss Toby has won several all-around rodeo titles.

She completed her B.S.E. in Health and Physical Education at the University of Central Arkansas in 1984 with a 4.0 GPA. She continued to pursue her education and received a M.S.E. in Physical Education in 1986, also with a 4.0 GPA.

As a consummate performer, she is in constant demand throughout the region as a speaker, dance instructor and entertainer, along with her staff and entourage of animals. Miss Toby encourages students of all ages to do their best. She has touched the lives of individuals. Perhaps she is most accurately described by one of her young horseback students, Ashley Joslin, who proclaimed, 'and on the eighth day, God created Miss Toby.'

Miss Toby lives out her passion to the fullest each day as she teaches, rodeos, and interacts with her assortment of animals. She is proud of her many accomplishments and is thankful to all who have helped make her dreams turn into reality.
